The hundreds of A3 drawings began from a 2-month stay at an anti-squat, near the central train station, in Amsterdam. The year was 1999 and this series was developed at the same time as the Two-World Suite. Pien drew everyday. The images continued his response to the tortured and opened up messy bodies depicted in images of Hell, both from Taiwan and from Christianity; and from reality. Dark and cautionary fairytale-based characters also seemed to have influenced the work. In this suite of simple drawings, sinister creatures and cannibals abound
